NewSong Contest Prizes

• INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE THROUGH MOUNTAIN STAGE BROADCAST
  Now in its 23rd year, Mountain Stage with Larry Groce is heard across the world on more than 125 radio stations, XM Satellite radio and “The Voice of America.” The program has featured some of the world’s finest performers and is known for first showcasing on national radio a host of stars in genres from traditional, roots, blues and world music, to avant garde rock, jazz, country and beyond. One co-winner will be chosen to perform on a Mountain Stage show that will later be broadcast internationally.

• FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO THE NEWSONG ACADEMY
  All finalists will also receive a full scholarship to this year's NewSong Academy, which also is held in Shepherdstown from August 23-25, 2006 (immediately preceding the festival weekend).

• CASH PRIZES
  A total of $1,800 in cash prizes will be awarded to the 2006 NewSong Contest Co-winners, and the Best Song Category Winner

• BEING A PART OF THE NEWSONG COMMUNITY
  Irrespective of whether they win prizes or not, contestants who come to the attention of NewSong judges and music industry reps will also have a shot at performing in NewSong showcases and regional concerts across America, as well as being heard on future NewSong recordings and Mountain Stage broadcasts.

Even contestants who do not win cash in the contest can still win. For instance, when Mountain Stage host and contest judge Larry Groce heard Diana Jones, a contestant who did not make it into the finals but whose recording impressed NewSong organizers, he booked her for an appearance on Mountain Stage in October 2004. Diana has since become the premier artist on the NewSong Recordings record label.
