'Metro DC' Regional Winner
Announced:
On Wednesday, David Kitchen didn’t have to travel far from his Alexandria, VA home to take the title at this year’s ‘Metro DC’ regional round finals, held at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA. Kitchen and the other finalists, who were selected from over 150 entries from artists in VA, MD and DC, each performed two original songs in front of a panel of judges and a full house of fans. In the end, Kitchen earned the highest score and secured himself a spot in the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest’s national finals. The finals are held on Saturday, August 26 in Shepherdstown, WV (less than 90 minutes by car from Washington, DC and Baltimore) as part of the Mountain Stage NewSong Festival. Kitchen is a prolific songwriter, singer and guitarist who has been active in the mid-Atlantic music scene for the last twenty years. "I am extremely proud to be representing the DC area. And I’m pleased that one of my songs I performed, ‘Find Our Way,’ conveys optimism about an uncertain future. It's hard, but these days you have to have hope that things will get better." Kitchen has received multiple nominations for the Washington Area Music Association’s Awards (WAMMIES), including Best New Artist, Best Roots Rock Instrumentalist, Best Roots Rock Vocalist and Musician of the Year.
