The dates of the 2007 NewSong Academy are Thursday August 9 - Saturday, August 11, 2007. It will take place once again in hip, historic Shepherdstown, WV. Mark your calendar, and stay tuned for our faculty announcements! Registration will begin in mid-February.

The NewSong Academy, three days of intensive workshops on songcraft and live performance, celebrates its 2nd year in hip, historic Shepherdstown, WV (just 90 minutes from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore). The Academy occurs immediately before NewSong, home of the great weekend gathering of performers and songwriters and the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest Live Round & Finals.

We are very excited to announce this years' stellar faculty lineup: Kathy Mattea, Billy Jonas, Paul Reisler, Jason Blume and Ysaye M. Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock. Workshops are taught by major hit songwriters, top national performers and music industry experts in an intimate setting that makes the classes highly engaging, informative and inspiring. The Academy is perfect for writers and performers of all levels and genres, including professional songwriters and touring artists, musicians whose true love is their weekend gigging, as well as beginner songwriters and first time performers.

WHAT YOU'LL GET. . .
In addition to three incredible days of workshops Wednesday through Friday, Academy registration also includes:

• A spot in the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest Live Round on Saturday, August 26. As space is limited for this live round, this is available to all registrants until all live round spaces are full.
• Camping at the NewSong Campground in Morgan’s Grove near downtown—an integral part for many as it encourages campfire song circles and opportunities for mingling with writers and performers from around the country.
• The Academy closing faculty concert on Friday evening, August 25 at the Frank Center on the Shepherd University campus.
